(2). The Three Trillion Dollar War: The True Cost of War in Iraq
The true cost of the Iraq War is $3 trillion-and counting-rather than the $50 billion projected by the White House.
Apart from its tragic human toll, the Iraq War will be staggeringly expensive in financial terms. This sobering study by Nobel Prize winner Joseph E. Stiglitz and Harvard professor Linda J. Bilmes casts a spotlight on expense items that have been hidden from the U.S. taxpayer, including not only big-ticket items like replacing military equipment (being used up at six times the peacetime rate) but also the cost of caring for thousands of wounded veterans-for the rest of their lives. Shifting to a global focus, the authors investigate the cost in lives and economic damage within Iraq and the region. Finally, with the chilling precision of an actuary, the authors measure what the U.S. taxpayer's money would have produced if instead it had been invested in the further growth of the U.S. economy. Written in language as simple as the details are disturbing, this book will forever change the way we think about the war.
Author suggests you to buy management books from homeshop18.com and get maximum discount.

7 Tips To Reading Childrens’ Books Out Loud

There is nothing more satisfying than reading to your child out loud and transforming the text in the book into something that feels like a living experience to your kids. How do you do that? Sounds like it’s simple, but it’s not! My first experience with stories was with my own Dad. A larger than life personality, he would not simply read me stories, he would add me to them as well! He had a tremendous talent for improvisation and was capable of making the story soar way above any writer’s dreams for their books.
Me? Not quite as talented! But I’ve read to my two boys for a total of 14 years, and one of them was based back in England. That one provided quite a challenge! Phone calls were a dollar a minute back then. I bought a cheap microphone and plugged it into my old cassette recorder and literally read the picture book from start to finish. I then sent him the finished cassette along with the paper book and waited to hear the screams of dismay from my ex-wife as she was tormented nightly by my voice!
Now, I am the Operations Director for a company producing digital picture books for kids, and as such, I have supervised and engineered the recording of more than 30 online picture books and have even narrated some as well. On top of that, I have guided many adults and children through the recording process. My job is to get the perfect performance out of everyone. So if you’ve ever wondered why your kids don’t pay quite as much attention to you reading a story as they do to Uncle Jim, listen up! I’m here to help. Here are a few easy to follow tips that will change everything!
7. Reading out loud is not the same as reading to yourself. That is probably the biggest mistake people make. You are now the court jester! You have to pack as much energy into the story as possible. Make it live!
6. Practice a few books without the kids present. Yes, you heard me, PRACTICE! Take a book into the ‘loo’ (rest room) and act it out. Sounds great because it echos! Pretend you’re on stage. Let it go!
5. Enunciate your words clearly. Don’t slur or mumble. Every word must be understood.
4. No monotony! Be animated. Go beyond your normal boundaries. Read with verve and excitement. Ad lib a little -- you can even change one of the character’s names to be that of the child you’re reading to!
3. Get into the characters. When you’re reading dialog, imagine you’re that person speaking. Try to make each character different in some simple way.
2. Don’t rush. Making mistakes will pull the kids out of the imaginary world you’re putting them in. Take your time, but allow your eyes to run a little ahead of your lips, that way you’ll know what’s coming and can put the right emphasis on it.
1. Imagine you’re the kid you’re reading to. Imagine the eager look of excitement on that kid’s face as the plot unfolds. You are creating a movie in the kid’s head! Have fun with it. Be it. They will always remember storytime with Mom and Dad.
So to wrap it up, let your hair down, allow your inner kid to emerge, be a little looney, make some silly faces and noises, ad lib a little and just watch the reactions as the kids become totally involved and clamor for more when you’re done.
Good luck and happy reading!

Grocery Stores Need to Adapt in Order to Survive

Supermarket grocery stores have been a tradition for nearly a century. Americans have made weekly trips to their local super markets to purchase groceries. Things have been changing. Many shoppers have switched to mega-stores like Wal-Mart Super Centers and specialty grocery stores like Trader Joes and Whole Foods.

The first self service grocery store to open was the Memphis Tennessee Piggly Wiggly in the early 1900’s. In 1930 Michael McKullen opened the first supermarket in Queens New York. Within a decade the Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company spread the idea across the country. At that time the chain became the fifth largest corporation in America.

Americans average 2.2 trips to the supermarket each week spending on the average $24.64 per visit. Costco and Walmart are both putting a crimp in the grocery store’s profits. According to a CBS News Poll 6 in 10 Americans buy their groceries at a mega-store now. According to CBS 15 cents of ever grocery dollar is now spent at Wal-Mart.

Albertsons has had to close many of their stores the past few months. They have closed stores in Colorado, California and throughout their market. Sometimes they don’t even give notice of the closures. They might just close the doors without any explanation.

Some analysts predicted that the grocery stores would be forced to close stores. During the recent grocery store strike in California, one of the reasons the store management gave for not capitulating to the unions demands was the increased competition.

With recent news of Albertsons woes, it appears they were right. In the past two decades 10,000 grocery stores have closed their doors. Winn Dixie is in bankruptcy and Albertsons is looking for a buyer to avoid closing their chain.

Nowadays customers demand either super savings or super service. Convenience is not as important to most shoppers anymore. The grocery stores have been trying to reinvent themselves, but they have a lot of catching up to do.

Grocery Shop Online

There are numerous reasons to grocery shop online versus grocery shopping from a physical store:

1. You save time. No more needing to drive to the grocery store and then circling the parking lot fighting with other people over parking spaces. No more winding your way up and down the aisles at the store hunting for every item. No more standing in long lines at the checkout counter. No more loading the groceries into your car and then unloading them when you get home.

2. If you have a physical impairment that inhibits you from the physical labor associated with the whole grocery shopping experience, then the convenience of being able to grocery shop online will help you overcome your limitations.

3. You save money. Sure, you may be paying additional fees if you grocery shop online. But think about how much money you will save in the long run by not impulse shopping! We all have walked into a grocery store at one time or another, with a short grocery list, and walked out with a ton of other items that were not on your list! If you grocery shop online, you avoid the unintended consequences of impulse shopping entirely!

4. You free up your time. If you have an extremely busy schedule juggling your work, your family commitments, or if your schedule does not permit you to get to the grocery store during normal business hours, then you can rest assured. You can grocery shop online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at your own convenience, and schedule to have your groceries delivered to your home at the time of your choosing.

5. You have one less chore to do. You can automate your grocery shopping experience by scheduling to have grocery items that need to be replenished at regular intervals be shipped to you.

6. If you live in a building that makes lugging grocery bags up and down flights of stores or up and down an elevator and down a hallway a difficult task, then you can have your groceries delivered right to your doorstep.

7. You avoid stress. No more hassle of having to drive to the grocery store, circle around the parking fighting over a parking space. No more dragging your screaming and restless kids with you to the store. No more meandering through the crowded isles trying to figure out where everything is. No more getting stick in grocery store traffic jam gridlock while trying to avoid a collision with other shopping carts. No more standing in long lines at the checkout counter. No more physical labor of loading your groceries into the trunk of your car and unloading them when you get home.

How to Save Money using Coupons when Grocery Shopping for Food

Grocery Shopping
Oprah’s last Debt Diet show on March 24th, discussed how two families are coping with budgeting and learning to eat at home. One of the families had spent $29,000 last year eating out for all of their meals. While many of us do find our way in the kitchens more often than that there are things we can do to help keep our grocery food bill low.

One way that most of us know about is using coupons. Coupon clipping can be an amazing money saving technique. It takes organization to really save substantially with coupons. If you are serious about coupon clipping you will learn what Sunday papers have the most coupon inserts. Usually just before a holiday the coupon section is stocked full of good coupons. It can really pay to buy multiple newspapers for the coupons if you having savings on your mind.

When you clip the coupons you will need to have them organized based on the store isle layouts. You should purchase a mini expanding file folder to organize your coupons. Put paperclips on the coupons to group them even further. That way when you are in that section of the store you will be able to scan your coupons and match sale items without a lot of stress.

Usually it pays best for coupons in stores that have double coupon pay outs. These stores are on average more expensive to shop at if you are not using coupons. If you watch for the sales in the mail for the grocery stores you could preplan what items to pick up before even entering the store. This could save a bunch of time.

The reason for the duplicate coupons is that when you get one item free with double coupon, wouldn’t you want more than one for free or almost free? I remember one time getting a large size applesauce for free; it was due to the double coupons. It does add up, but it also takes more time to shop when coupons are in mind. If you have a baby it can pay to clip the coupons for the baby food. It is something that you will need a lot of and if you are not willing to make all the pureed food it will save you a lot of money.

Not all coupons are great coupons, and you will learn which coupons are good ones as well as the not so good ones. If you have favorite foods that you can’t live without then you might find some great coupons to help offset the cost.

Coupons expire so you need to be ready to get rid of the expired ones. Usually when you put in the new coupons it is a good time to get rid of the old outdated ones. You can also trade coupons with friends and also online as well. There are coupons you can print off of the internet as well. In the store those coupon dispensers that are all around the store can have some good discounts. There are also sometimes excellent coupons in the store’s flyer for the week. If you don’t get one in the mail they usually put them at the front of the store.

Learn to read the fine print on the coupons. Sometimes coupons are difficult to understand. There are so many different flavors, and sizes. Watch for coupons that specifically state the flavor and size. If you don’t get the right size or flavor you won’t get the discount for the item. Grocery stores sometimes put the non-coupon items that would be mistaken for the coupon item at the end caps of the store isles. It is common for sale items to go on the end caps. Make sure you read the coupon.

Even better than coupons is making your food from whole foods and avoid buying pre-made kits and ready to go food. But this also takes time too. If you invest in a large freezer it can help to store your homemade foods for ready to go meals for your family.

I used to do the coupon clipping until the kids out numbered my husband and I. This got us to join a wholesale club to buy food in bulk. It is not always a deal at these stores, but if you know what to look for you can save a lot of money this way as well. You won’t be able to get everything at these stores. It is a good idea to keep on with the coupon clipping at the regular grocery store as well to fill in where the wholesale club missed.

With young children it can be frustrating to clip coupons. It is helpful to either have your husband come along with to help or to leave the kids at home or school when you go to the grocery store. It is worth a try if you haven’t clipped coupons it can be rewarding to see how much you can save. You will be amazed how much coupons can discount the cost of food.

Grocery Shopping Online – Taking the Stress out of Shopping

Grocery - Online Grocery Shopping
Grocery shopping online has emerged as a great new way to get the household foods and products you need without the hassle of driving to the store. Internet shopping has been around for years, and it has proved to be a very popular way for people to buy a variety of items. It took a while, but grocery stores finally started realizing that they could take advantage of the online shopping craze too.

Although not every grocery store chain has jumped on the Internet bandwagon, more and more are doing it every year. Since it is clear that shopping online is something that is here to stay, grocery store chains are finally realizing that they can attract even more customers by allowing people the convenient of grocery shopping online. Since grocery shopping involves buying a lot of perishable items, shopping online for groceries is a little different than ordering products from other online stores. Instead of waiting for products to be shipped through the mail, those who order grocery products online instead get their items personally delivered to their doors, usually on the same day or the next day. Fees for delivery are usually quite reasonable, and grocery stores that provide grocery shopping online advertise occasional deals where the delivery is free. Also, all weekly sales are the same online as they are if you visit the actual stores.

Grocery Shopping Online – Taking the Stress out of Shopping

Online Shopping Stores are very much convenient

In online stores, the consumers find the product of their choice by browsing through the website of the retailers or they can search across many vendors by using a shopping search engine. Once the consumer has found the product of his choice on the website of the seller, most of the online retailers use shopping cart software which allows the customers to accumulate multiple items and to adjust quantities. Then follows a “check out” process in which the payment and delivery information is collected and some of the websites also allows the consumers to sign up for a permanent online account so that the customer does not have to re-enter the information. And the customer often receives an e-mail confirmation once the transaction is completed, but many online stores do not accept their customer’s credit card information through emails because of the security reasons.

After the payment has been accepted, the goods and services can be delivered in many ways. You can either use the method of downloading which is mainly used for digital media products such as software, music, movies and images. Shipping method is often used where the product is directly shipped to the customer’s address. These online shopping stores often use Drop shipping method of delivery where the order is usually passed to the manufacturer, who ships the product directly to the customer. Whereas, the in-store pick up method is used in the bricks and clicks business model.

Internet shopping stores are very much convenient as one can access to the web 24x7 and you can find just about anything if you search diligently. Mostly, the online shopping is considered cheaper than the high street as the retailers don’t have the overheads of a shop. Online shopping is quick and easy and on a wet, online shopping is far more preferable than visiting down a high street shop in rain and wind. Well, the verdict is wherever you want to shop from, just be smart and use your money wisely.

Online Shopping Safety: The Internet Privacy Problem

When you are shopping, banking or accessing other sensitive or confidential information online, how can you be sure that no one can monitor or intercept this personal information? Moreover, how can you be sure that someone can’t get this information from your computer later? The answer of the first question is simpler that the second one. Mil Shield is a powerful privacy protection tool that can automatically clean all online and offline traces from your computer, which is very important to your Internet privacy, as you will see below:

Traces left on your computer:
The discussion above covers the protection of your Internet privacy from Internet cheats or impostors. However the encryption can not help if someone gets to control your PC or has access to your computer through one of the numerous security holes in the operating system and application software. The thing is that Internet Explorer leaves many traces of your Web surfing. These include Internet history, cookies, Temporary Internet files (a.k.a. Internet cache) and Auto Complete forms and passwords. If an intruder gets access to these traces, he can have a full record of all Web surfing and even some of your computer activities that are not related to Internet.

You can delete some of these traces through Internet Explorer options but not all of them are really deleted (see the article Delete Index.dat files for the most obscure and hard to erase traces). Furthermore, it is real pain to have to clean even these traces because there is no centralized place to control this and there is no way to automate the process. Finally, some of the traces are actually good for your browsing experience – Internet cache speeds up the browsing, cookies protect you from entering your user information over and over again and history makes it easy to type the addresses of your favorite Web sites.

Secure pages and secure connections:
Everything that you enter in the online forms when you are shopping, travels through many (tens or even hundreds) switching devices and computers. In order to be sure that no one can intercept this information, a special way of communication is used, called Secure Socket Layer (SSL). SSL ciphers (encrypts) the information on your computer and deciphers (decrypts) the information on the Web server that you are accessing. But how can you be sure that SSL is used

when you are shopping online?

First, you have to look at the address bar of your browser and see what the address of the page where you enter your personal and credit card information looks like. If the address begins with https: (s for secure) instead of http:, then this page is using SSL. Note that only the page(s) where you actually enter your personal and credit card information need to be protected with SSL. All other pages on the Web site in most cases don’t use SSL because they don’t need to.

Digital certificates, cipher strength and Internet privacy:
With SSL (the secure protocol described above) you can be sure that no one can intercept and decode the private information sent to the online store or whatever web page you are accessing via secure connection. However, there is another danger – how can you be sure that the online shop itself is not a cheat or impostor?

To address this concern, when you visit the online store order page and you submit your personal data, the online store server automatically sends its digital certificate. This is essentially an electronic ID card that proves the online store identity to your browser, and verifies that it was issued by a certificate authority that your browser trusts. This certificate is issued to the online store by a trusted third party called a certificate authority. In addition to proving the online store identity, the certificate provides a cryptographic "key" (cipher) that is used to encode and decode your communication with the online store. Once your browser approves the certificate, the secure server encrypts any information before it travels across the Internet.

Conclusion :
As we saw the online shopping experience can be safe and joyful only if we take some precautions. Here is a summary of the steps that you need to follow in order to protect your Internet privacy:
- Check if the order page(s) are SSL protected. The address of the page must begin with https: and (if you are using Internet Explorer) the little padlock icon on the bottom of the browser window must be locked.
- If the security alerts of Internet Explorer don’t bother you, leave them turned on (or turn them on if they are turned off).
- Use a browser that supports 128-bit cipher strength and (if you are really paranoid) check the digital certificates of the secure pages.
- Use a privacy protection program like Mil Shield in order to avoid the possibility of someone that can steal your personal information after the online transaction.
Well, happy shopping!

How to Save Money using Coupons when Grocery Shopping for Food

Put paper clips on the coupons to group them even further.

Grocery Shoppers Need Protection from Germ-infested Shopping Cart Handles to Avoid Illnesses and Dis

Monroe, Mich. -- Health-conscious shoppers can now stay healthy thanks to the invention of The Healthy Handle.

The Healthy Handle slips over the handle on shopping carts to protect users from exposure to germs, viruses, bacteria and other contaminants, according to inventor Al Dandy of Dandy Enterprises LLC.

The fact that shopping carts are contaminated is real, and they are a major contributor to a huge public health problem,” Dandy said.

It is not uncommon to see customers sneeze or cough into their hands, then go back to pushing a shopping cart. Young children drool, and teething babies bite on the handles -- even when under the watchful eye of a parent. Such practices lead to the spread of illnesses.

In recent studies, shopping cart handles tested positive for bodily fluids such as, blood, saliva, mucus, and even urine and fecal matter. Not only common sense, but scientific research has proven the danger of spreading illness by hand contact with these and many other contaminates, according to Dandy.

Not only do we have to contend with existing illnesses, but because our borders are virtually gone, we now have to deal with new diseases and illnesses that follow the new cultures. Traditions and different beliefs, along with personal hygiene differences, bring new problems. We must not ignore the problem, but address it with common sense and effective aids,” Dandy said.

The idea for The Healthy Handle came when Dandy’s wife cut her hand on a broken piece of plastic on a shopping cart handle.

There’s got to be a way that people can be protected while using a shopping cart,” she told him. And he set out to do just that.

The Healthy Handle, built to fit all shopping cart handles, is easy to use and dishwasher safe. It can be applied and removed without touching the shopping cart handle itself. It takes protection a step further than antibacterial wipes, he said.

After extensive research, it didn’t take long to understand that there is no one way to eliminate the contamination using chemicals that could be used safely by humans,” Dandy explained. “I’m talking about total elimination of contamination, not just certain bacteria or viruses.”

There is no wipe or spray that will eliminate all the many forms of contamination on a shopping cart handle, according to Dandy.

The Healthy Handle, constructed of materials that resist contamination, provides a barrier of protection between the shopper and the cart handle, preventing spread of viruses or bacteria, Dandy said. It is re-usable, practical and discreet.

5 Crucial Tips When Shopping for Low Interest Rate Credit Cards

In today’s market low interest rate credit cards are easily found online, in the mail and at your local bank. There really isn’t a difference where you decide to shop for your new credit card most places offer the same deals from the same card issuers. However, there are definitely some features you need to be aware of and avoid if possible. I have listed the most crucial points to be aware of when shopping for low interest rate credit cards, they are as follows:

Universal Default – Universal default is a buried clause in the fine print of almost all low interest rate credit cards. It basically says that if you are late on payments they can jack up your rates at will. The scary part is that they can use your payment history from other accounts to enact the clause. Say for instance if you co-signed for a car with someone and he misses a payment you can be penalized, harshly. Interest rates can nearly triple when this clause is enacted.

Payment Grace Periods – It used to be that consumers had a full 30 days to pay their balances before the credit card company started charging interest. This isn’t true anymore. In fact the average grace period is about 22 days now. Even the low interest rate credit cards are practicing the shortened grace period. Some of your credit cards designed for bad credit do not have a grace period at all! Always find out what your grace period is.

Cash Advances – Be careful when you pull into that ATM to get some cash for the day. Most credit card companies have higher rates for cash advances than they do for purchases. The cash advance interest rates can be almost 30% when you consider the fees added for the transaction. Also, you must pay the cash advance back over and above your regular payment to get rid of the higher interest rate. There is rarely any grace period for cash advances either. We at Credit Card Banc strongly advise against taking cash advances from any credit card.

Two-Cycle Billing – This sneaky trick is usually buried in the fine print. Two cycle billing is when the credit card company will charge you interest based on the on the average balance carried on the card, not the actual balance. Say for instance if we charge $1000 on the card in January with the intention to the balance off completely by March in two $500 payments. Let’s assume your interest rate is 10%, which makes your interest $100. February's you make a $500 dollar payment leaving a $500 balance. Your Interest on this balance is $50.00. Not so with two cycle billing. The card company will average the balances which is $750. Your interest due is now $75 not fifty. Look out for this trick when comparing low interest rate credit cards.

Fees, Fees and more Fees - A lot of market low interest rate credit cards will charge a hefty fee to cover their expenses. This is because most people that can qualify for a market low interest rate credit card pay their balances in full each month. If the rate on the card is low enough I really do not mind a reasonable annual fee, the call is yours. However what about the other fees? Account set up fees, monthly fees, over the limit fees, late fees, additional card fees and a host of other fees. Honestly look at your spending and payment habits and the possible fees you might incur. It could make the difference between a good deal and a bad one.

In closing, I can’t stress enough that you need to read the fine print! Look at the fees, look at the billing cycles and compare all of these variables with your spending and payment habits. If you carry a balance on your card often and always pay your bills at the end of the month it may benefit to take a slightly higher interest rate in lieu of a better billing cycle and lower late fees.

Understanding Online Shopping

Are you afraid of ordering items online? Read this article to learn about what security measures are in place to keep your information protected and what you can do to help.

Have you ever thought twice before using your credit card in an online store? Shopping sites, banking sites, even sites for the lovelorn say they are secure, but what does that mean, really? Can't your credit card number or social security number or grandchild's name be hijacked as they whiz through the Internet from your browser to the remote site's servers? And if it is really secure, how do you know?

To tell you the truth, I do a lot of shopping on the Internet and haven't had any security problems. I've bought books, software, flowers, gifts, ink and labels for my printer, blank CDs and DVDs and services. I even paid for the Lansing Star's logo over the Web. Why get jostled at the mall when you can have things delivered to the comfort of your own home?

The key to Internet security is Hypertext Transfer Protocol over Secure Socket Layer, or HTTPS. Regular Web pages use Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), and that's why their Web addresses start with "http://." HTTP sends plain text, readable by anyone.

If you have shopped on the Internet you may have noticed that when you get to the part of an online store that actually takes your order that Web address prefix changes to "https://." So the regular address may be something like http://www.myproduct.com and the order taking page might be https://www.myproduct.com/onlineshop/.

HTTPS depends on two things: it needs your Web browser to have secure capabilities (virtually all modern browsers do) and it needs the Web store you are visiting to have the same capabilities. When your browser sees that it is visiting a secure site, it sends your requests and information using a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) in encrypted form, instead of just plain text. The secure Web site knows how to decrypt your information once it gets there.

The Web site must have an SSL Certificate on its server. This is a unique file that allows your browser to authenticate that the Web site it is communicating with is actually the one you think you are communicating with. There are a few different vendors of these certificates, and they must be renewed annually by the site owner.

Another clue that you are on a secure site is that some browsers have a little symbol that appears when it is securely connected. For example, Internet Explorer shows a little yellow padlock in the lower status bar. Opera shows a gray padlock right next to the Web address. Firefox and Mozilla show it in the lower right corner. Netscape shows the padlock in the lower left.

That's what goes on under the hood, but there are some things you should do to be sure you are not sending your personal information to a secure site that is run by thugs.

* Always type the address of sites you trust. Don't click on addresses sent to you in e-mail. Bad guys sometimes send official looking letters with a link that looks OK, but actually goes to a clone site instead of the real one.
* Only deal with sites you trust. Amazon.com is trustworthy. TakeMyMoneyAndRun.com probably isn't.
* Check the Web site to see if there is an address and telephone number. If you are still nervous about ordering over the Web you might be able to phone in your order.
* Only deal with reputable companies. You wouldn't hand over your credit card in a storefront called "Sleazebag Emporium" so why would you do it in a questionable Web store?

Online shopping can be very convenient. With SSL technology to keep your personal information safe it can be a pleasant experience to have your purchase simply show up at your door.

Top 5 Tips for Online Shopping

Shopping online is something that is becoming increasingly popular. Every day more people are coming online from around the world to complete purchases. With such an increase in overall online spend, it is important that you know exactly what you should be looking out for when shopping online. Although the costs of online goods can be much less, especially as a result of fewer overheads for retailers, it is important that you are a savvy online shopper if you want to ensure you remain safe and get a good deal.

1. Credit Card v Debit Card

When shopping online it is much safer to use your credit card than your debit card for online purchases. The reason for this is that when you use a credit card you can charge-back the merchant if you are not happy with the goods or service that you purchased. It is also important to use a credit card because of online fraud. If you are subject to fraud with your credit card then the credit card company will give you a refund whilst your bank will not in the case of your debit card.

2. Shop Around

When you are online it is surprising to find that only one company is selling the good or service that you are looking to buy. Because this is very rare it is a good idea to look in many online shops before finally making a purchase. When you are shopping around and looking at the different prices offered it is also important to consider any shipping costs that are associated with a transaction. It is often the case that these are over-looked according to published research.

3. Secure Payment Gateway

When shopping online it is important that you only enter your payment details via a secure payment gateway. In order to identify a secure payment gateway you should look in the address bar on the page where you are going to enter your payment details. If it reads https:// rather than http:// then it means that your data is being encrypted and as such will likely get to where it is supposed to. Please note that this does not apply throughout every page of the site, it only applies on the actual page that is being used to process payments.

4. Read the T and C

This may come as a shock to you, but you should always read the terms and conditions! Failing to read the terms and conditions may not seem too important at the time, but it certainly will retrospectively should anything go wrong. A savvy shopper will always recognize the importance of ensuring they know exactly what they are agreeing to.

5. Check for Contact Details

Should a website not have contact details such as address and telephone number then dealing with them is not a good choice. When you deal with a company and pay them money it is reasonable to assume you should be able to easily contact them when something goes wrong. If you cannot find anything other than an email address then don't give them your money!
